HOW BETWEEN EMERGED

It began with a question that refused a single place.

BETWEEN emerged from years of moving across artistic practice, research, pedagogy, and community work. Again and again, the same question returned: Where does knowledge belong when it refuses a single discipline?

Some insights appeared inside rehearsals. Some arrived through fieldwork. Some lived inside artistic processes long before they entered academic language. Yet these experiences often remained scattered across separate conversations. BETWEEN was born from the belief that these worlds need not remain separate—that they can meet, converse, and co-exist with care and depth.

WHAT IS BETWEEN?

A space for multiple knowledges.

BETWEEN is an international open-access publishing platform that welcomes work inhabiting the spaces between disciplines, practices, and ways of knowing.

It publishes research, reflections, creative work, visual and moving archives, field notes, and dialogues that emerge from the thresholds of art, culture, education, community, and lived experience.

It is a journal.
It is a conversation.
It is an archive of the present.
It is a meeting point for multiple knowledges.
It is a space for the unfinished, the in-process, the becoming.
